Espresso Hour — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-07 (the between-days ad's pacing, and the settings file the game reads from this site). Previously updated 2026-10-06. This page describes the game as currently shipped, and the app's App Store privacy disclosures match it. The previous version of this page described a single banner advertisement; the game now also shows an occasional ad between days and offers optional rewarded videos, and this version describes all of them.

The short version

Espresso Hour has no account system and no product analytics. Your save file never leaves your device. The one thing that does involve a third party is advertising, served by Google AdMob: a banner on the end-of-day summary screen and an occasional ad between days, both removed by the ad-free unlock, plus optional videos you can choose to watch for an in-game reward. Separately, this website has an optional launch list: if you join it, we keep the email address you give us, and use it only to tell you about the game.

Your save file and settings

Your game progress, settings, and story choices are stored only on your own device, in the app's private storage area. They are not transmitted anywhere and are not stored on any server we operate. We never see them. Uninstalling the app removes them.

Product analytics

None. The game contains no analytics SDK. Nothing about how you play — days reached, drinks served, screens opened — is transmitted or recorded off your device.

The welcome screen shown on first launch includes an optional analytics checkbox. With no analytics provider in the app, that checkbox currently has nothing to enable: it is kept as a working consent switch so that if product analytics are ever added, they arrive switched off for anyone who left it unchecked, rather than arriving retroactively enabled. If that ever changes, this page is updated before the change ships.

Advertising

The game shows three kinds of advertisement, and never during a shift, a conversation, or any other part of play:

Players who buy the ad-free unlock never see the banner or the between-days ad, and no request is made for them. The rewarded videos stay available, because they are only ever something you choose to start.

All of these are served by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK, together with Google's consent SDK). Google receives the technical data it needs to return and measure an ad, which may include your device type, operating system version, an IP address and the coarse location derived from it, how you interacted with the ad (for example whether it was shown or tapped), and diagnostic data about the ad SDK's own performance. Google's own handling of that data is described in Google's Privacy & Terms for partners.

The game requests non-personalized ads only. It does not ask for permission to track you, does not request Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), and disables the ad SDK's first-party advertising ID. Ads are not targeted using a profile of you or your activity in other apps, and the app declares no tracking in its App Store privacy disclosures.

Where local law requires a consent choice (for example in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland), Google's consent form is presented before any ad is requested. If you decline, no ad of any kind is requested. You can reopen that choice at any time from Settings → PRIVACY CHOICES. There is also a REPORT AD button beneath the banner for reporting an inappropriate advertisement; it opens the same email draft as the bug reporter below.

Purchases

The ad-free unlock is an Apple in-app purchase. The transaction is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit; we never see your payment details. The app stores only whether the unlock is held, on your own device, and asks Apple to confirm it when you press RESTORE PURCHASES.

On Android, the same unlock is a Google Play in-app purchase, handled entirely by Google through Google Play Billing; we never see your payment details there either. The app keeps the same single on-device record, and asks Google Play to confirm it when you press RESTORE PURCHASES.

Bug reports

The in-game REPORT A BUG feature (Settings) opens a pre-filled email in your device's own mail app, containing your app version, engine version, device/OS version, language, current story day, save slot number, and last save-load result. Reporting an ad additionally includes which placement it was, which day it was requested for, whether it filled, and the consent state it was served under. It never includes your save file, your dialogue choices, or any device identifier. Nothing is sent unless you personally review and send that email — the game itself never transmits anything. If you do send it, we receive your email address along with it, and we use it only to reply to you about the report.

This website

This page is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any standard web host, it may log basic request data (such as IP address) for security and abuse prevention; this does not identify individual players. The game itself fetches one small settings file from this site at launch (how often the between-days ad may appear). That request carries nothing about you or your play beyond what any web request does. The only other thing the website collects is the optional launch list described below.

The launch list (this website only)

The game's home page has an optional form to hear when Espresso Hour reaches the App Store. It is separate from the game app, which collects none of this. If you join, we store:

What it is used for: one message when the game is released on the App Store (and later on Google Play), and occasional news about major updates to Espresso Hour. Nothing else. We do not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising.

Where it is kept: in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Firebase, the same Google service that hosts this site), in a database that cannot be read from the web; only the developer can see it, through the Firebase console. Google processes it on our behalf as a service provider. The emails themselves are sent through Resend (resend.com), an email delivery service that receives your address only to deliver our message to it.

Your choices: joining is voluntary. To be removed, reply to any message we send, or email ekimbasoglu@hotmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we will delete the entry. You can also ask what we hold about you. We delete the whole list once it has served its purpose.

Children's privacy

Espresso Hour is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad requests are non-personalized, as described above.
